Deontay Gray
Company Dancer
Deontay Gray was born and raised in Baltimore city. For several years he studied vocal and instrumental music, performing in Carnegie Hall with Dr. Craig Jessop. He has also had the pleasure of performing with Marin Alsop and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at the Meyerhof and the Strathmore Center for the Arts. It wasn’t until college that he discovered dance. Under the leadership of his modern teacher at The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC), Thomas Parlon, his passion for dance was nurtured. A year later he would begin his ballet training and join the CCBC Dance Company. While with CCBC, he was invited to perform at the American College Dance festival at George Mason University in Virginia. In fall 2014 Deontay transferred to Shenandoah University’s Conservatory where he received extensive training, in ballet, modern, and jazz. In 2015 he was featured as a choreographer and dancer presenting his own work in Winchester, England. He has been in the work of faculty members, Maurice Fraga, Tiffanie Carson, Shylo Martinez, Robert Boross, and Alan Arnett as well as guest artist Robbie Priore. He now continues his education at the Shenandoah University Conservatory. This is Deontay’s third season with CKM&A.
