De-Generate

Dance Place's Modern Moves Festival at the Atlas

CKM&A will remount Morgan’s 2012 work De-Generate, a “visually stunning” work that asks the dancers to navigate a potentially hazardous, object filled environment, that serves as a metaphor for the abundance of stimuli in our modern lives.

The series, curated by Morgan, brings together innovative dance makers and inquisitive audiences. Each event showcases 2 to 3 choreographers, each of whom present a work in progress, followed by Morgan facilitating a critical response process between the choreographer and the audience. Part of The Alden’s Insider Knowledge Series, these evenings quench artistic inquiry with thoughtful dialogue and sweet treats.

 

 

 

Dance Bethesda

Returning for the second year in a row to this beloved Dance Festival, Christopher will be performing his 2011 solo work Selling Out. This piece is an audience favorite and features an original score by long time collaborator Monstah Black. This performance will mark the first time Morgan has performed the solo in over 2 years. Don't miss it, and performances by several other great companies!

 

 

Dissolving

CKM&A returns for its third annual season at The Alden, presenting the world premiere of Dissolving, a special new work by Morgan made in collaboration with Dance Exchange Resident Artist Matthew Cumbie and composer Jonathan Kolm. Also on the program the company premiere of Morgan’s 2013 work Selective Sync, Morgan's 2010 solo for live cello by Ignacio Alcover entitled Cuarto, and 2013 work Place Names.

American Dance Institute

May 30 & 31, 2014 at 8pm

 

CKM&A concludes the 2013-2014 season in their artistic home at ADI with an evening featuring two world premieres and a special anniversary reconstruction. In The Cold Room is a new work for the women of CKM&A that explores reactions to light, dark, and temperature to create an abstract examination of isolation and connection. Also on the program will be a world premiere duet on Corey Landolt and Andile Ndlovu, guest artists appearing courtesy of The Washington Ballet. Both of these world premieres will feature original music played live by electric cellist/composer Wytold. Closing the program, Morgan will perform his signature solo The Measure of a Man to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of this work
